To import, adjust, or save Images in GMS, use the following steps:

1. Import images.

Images are imported into the GIS module in GMS.

1. Open local images.
  1. Load images from local computer files using the File | Open... command.
  2. Alternatively, drag and drop the file into the Graphics Window in GMS.
2. Import images from the web.
  1. Use the Add Online Maps Add Online Maps Icon.svg macro.
  2. Select a location in the Virtual Earth Map Locator.
  3. If a projection has not been set for the project, set a new project in the Display Projection dialog.
  4. Use the Data Service Options dialog to select a web service.
2. Add images properties.
1. Register images.
  1. Right-click on the image object in the Project Explorer and select the Register Image command.
  2. Use the Register Image dialog to set image geo-referencing.
2. Set projections.
  1. Right-click on an object in the Project Explorer and select the Projection | Projection command.
  2. Set the horizontal and vertical projection using the Object Projection dialog.
  3. To set a global projection, use the Horizontal Projection dialog.
3. Adjust images.
1. Adjust image transparency.
  1. Right-click on the image object in the Project Explorer and select the Transparency command.
  2. Using the Layer Transparency dialog, set the transparency for the image.
2. Smooth a raster image.
  1. Right-click on the image object in the Project Explorer and select the Convert To | Smoothed Raster command.
  2. Use the Raster Smoothing Options dialog to specify how the raster image data values should be smoothed.
  3. Save the new smoothed raster file.
3. Trim the image.
  1. Select a coverage (or create a new coverage) in the Map module.
  2. Select the Create Feature Arc GMS Create Arc Tool.svg tool and draw a closed set of arcs.
  3. While the arcs are selected, go to Feature Objects | Build Polygons.
  4. Use the Select Polygon GMS Select Polygon Tool.svg tool to select the polygon just created.
  5. Right-click a image in the GIS data and select Convert To | Trimmed Raster.
  6. Save a file with the trimmed data.
4. Resample a raster image.
  1. Right-click on the image object in the Project Explorer and select the Convert To | Resampled Raster command.
  2. Use the Resample and Export Raster dialog to specify how to resample the image data values.
  3. Save the new resampled raster file.
5. Merge mulitple images.
  1. Select two or more image items in the Project Explorer by holding down the Shift key while selecting each item.
  2. Right-click on one of the selected objects and select Convert To | Merged Raster.
  3. Save a file with the merged data.
4. Save or export image data.
1. Save image displayed in Graphics Window.
  1. Select File | Save As.
  2. Save the project as an image type (BMP, JPEG, TIFF, etc...).
2. Copy image displayed in Graphics Window to clipboard.
  1. Select Edit | Copy to Clipboard.
  2. Paste the image into another program (Microsoft Word, Photoshop, Paint, etc...).
3. Export a resampled raster file.
  1. Right-click on the image object and select the Export command.
  2. Set exporting preferences in the Resample and Export Raster dialog.
  3. Save the image file.
