Starting at version 12.2 there is a free version of SMS called "Community Edition". It is limited to include only the 2D mesh module and the SRH-2D model interface. Any SHR-2D project can be imported, but if there is more than one mesh or one simulation, the project cannot be saved. The community edition must still be registered using a license code which can be obtained via the internet from the Registration Wizard (Help | Register | Change Registration | Request License).

Technical support is not provided for the Community Edition.

The Community Edition main capabilities and limitations are as follows:
