Remove Adverse Slopes

Given a GSSHA Boundary Conditions coverage with a stream (channel) network, creates a copy of the coverage in which the arc elevations have been changed so that no adverse slopes (streams running uphill) exist in the stream network.

Arc elevations before and after removing adverse slopes

The tool requires that all arc directions are pointed from upstream to downstream. See the “Reorient Stream Arcs” tool for a way to easily change all arc directions to point downstream.

Input Parameters

  • Input GSSHA Boundary Conditions coverage – The GSSHA Boundary Conditions coverage containing the stream network.
  • Output coverage name – Name of the output coverage. Optional. If not specified, the input coverage name is used with a number appended to make the name unique.

Output Parameters

  • Output coverage – The new coverage.
