1. Convert GIS data to feature objects.
Convert GIS data, such as contained in a shapefile, to feature objects on a map coverage.
  1. Select the Mapping | Shapes → Feature Objects command.
  2. Use the GIS to Feature Objects Wizard to create feature objects on a map coverage.
2. Convert CAD data to feature objects.
  1. Right-click on the CAD dataset in the Project Explorer and select Convert | CAD → Map.
  2. Use the options in the Clean Options dialog.
  3. A new map coverage with converted CAD data will appear in the map module.
3. If needed, merge coverages.
  1. Select multiple coverages that have feature objects which need to be on the same coverage.
  2. Use the Merge Coverages right-click command.
  3. Right-click on the new coverage and set the correct coverage type.
  4. Use the Clean Options dialog to resolve conflicting feature object data in the new coverage.
