  1. Before importing, check that the data is in a file type that SMS can recognize. For CAD data these are DXF and DWG files.
  2. Use the File | Open command to launch the Open dialog and import the CAD files. (Files can also be imported with the "drag and drop" option SMS.)
  3. The data should load in layers into the Project Explorer.
