This dialog allows the user to specify the data that is output at monitoring cells (probes) in the simulation. The user selects cells in the grid and specifies them to be "observation" cells. Each observation cell output time series of water level or current components, flow rate and/or transport. Each observation cell can also be identified with a name.

The tab also include the option to specify the bottom roughness (as a spatially variable Manning's N value) that impacts the hydrodynamic circulation.

Time Series Observation Output

The time series section allows the user to define which quantities will be output at the time series probes and at what time interval.

  • U velocity
  • V velocity
  • Water surface (ETA)
  • Output interval

Flow Rate Observation Output

The flow rate section allows the user to specify which flow direction(s) will be saved for the flow rate observation cells and at what time interval.

  • X direction
  • Y direction
  • Output interval

Transport Observation Output

The transport section allows the user to specify which transport direction(s) will be saved (if sediment transport is enabled) at the transport observation cells and at what time interval.

  • X direction
  • Y direction
  • Output interval

Mannings n Dataset

The Manning's N data set is created and specified to define a spatially variable bottom roughness to provide a resistance to flow. This value has little impact in deep ocean applications but can be important in shallow regions. This is a user editable data set.
