SMS:CMS-Flow Wind and Wave
From XMS Wiki

This dialog allows the user to specify wind and wave conditions. These are optional inputs to the engine.
Wind Data
The user can turn on the option to tell CMS to include wind calculations in the simulation. Wind is simulated in CMS-Flow as a spatially constant, but temporally varying quantity. The model does not currently support tropical cyclonic winds.
- Include Wind: Toggle to enable wind.
- Import from File...: Button allowing the user to import wind data from a file. The file must be in an "m2w" wind format.
- Velocity (m/s): Button which invokes a time series editor to specify the variation of wind velocity through time in the simulation.
- Direction (deg): Button which invokes a time series editor to specify the variation in direction of the wind through time in the simulation.
Wave Data
CMS-Flow includes options to use wave data for two purposes in the calculations. These are described below. In either case, the effects of waves are input to the model in the form of spatially varying datasets. These data sets must already exist on the grid. The user simply selects which data set to use.
- Include radiation stresses: Toggle to include wave induced currents in CMS-Flow.
- Select: Button to select a vector data set of radiation stress gradients. These gradients can drive circulation, particularly in regions near the wave breaking zone.
- Include wave conditions: Toggle to include wave impacts on sediment transport calculations. This toggle has no impact if the sediment transport option is not enabled. Each data set must be specified defining how the wave conditions vary through space and time.
