To create Annotations in GMS by doing the following:

1. Create an annotation layer.
  1. Right-click in the Project Explorer and go to the New sub-menu.
  2. Select either the Annotation Layer – Screen Space command or Annotation Layer – World Space command.
2. Create annotation objects.
In an active annotation layer, the following annotation objects can be created:
1. Create text objects.
  1. Select the Create Text Object File:Anno Text Icon.png tool and click on the area in the Graphics Window where text is to be added.
  2. In the Text Properties dialog, enter text to be displayed and select the text font, color, background, and border.
2. Create a scale bar.
Only usable in an active screen space layer.
  1. Select the Create Scale Bar File:Anno Scale Icon.png tool and click on the area in the Graphics Window where scale bar is to be added.
  2. In the Scale Bar Properties dialog, enter text to be displayed and select the text font, color, background, border, and anchor positioning.
3. Create a north arrow.
Only usable in an active screen space layer.
  1. Select the Create Annotation North Arrow File:Tool NorthArrow.png tool then click and drag an area in the Graphics Window for the north arrow.
  2. Use the Open dialog to select and open a north arrow image.
4. Create oval or rectangle objects.
  1. Select the Create Oval Object File:Anno Circle Icon.png tool or the Create Rectangle Object File:Anno Rect Icon.png tool then click and drag an area in the Graphics Window for the rectangle or oval.
  2. In the Rectangle/Oval Properties dialog, define the line style, width, and color along with specifying a fill color or no fill color.
5. Create a line or arrow.
  1. Select the Create Line Object File:Anno Line Icon.png tool then click out a line in the Graphics Window.
  2. In the Line Properties dialog, define the line style, width, and color along with specifying arrowhead positions and size.
6. Add an annotation image.
Only usable in an active screen space layer.
  1. Select the Add Annotation Image Anno AddObject Icon.png tool then click and drag an area in the Graphics Window where the image will go.
  2. Use the Open dialog to select and open an image.
3. Edit annotation objects.
  1. Use the Select Annotation Objects Anno Select Icon.png tool to select any annotation object.
  2. Click and drag on an object to move it.
  3. Click and drag on an object's corners to resize it.
  4. Right-click on the object to delete, duplicate, or bring up its properties dialog.
