To import GIS data into SMS, use the following steps:

1. Import GIS data.
  1. Load shapefiles.
  2. Load additional data, such MIF/MID files.
  3. Load GIS Layers.
2. Add properties.
  1. Join table data properties.
  2. Set projections.
  3. Define mapping properties.
  4. Manage GIS layers.
3. Convert data.
  1. Interpolate data to scatter module, grid module, mesh module, or map coverage.
  2. Convert shapefiles to feature objects or TINs.
