The following is a list of conversion processes used in SMS.
1D Grid
A 1D Grid cannot be converted to other types of data.
The GenCade map module coverage can be converted to a 1D grid.
CAD
CAD data can be converted to the following:
- CAD to map
- CAD faces to 2D scatter triangles
- CAD points to 2D scatter
Cartesian Grid
A Cartesian grid can be converted to the following data types:
- 2D grid to 2D scatter
- 2D grid to map.
- 2D grid to 2D mesh
The following data types can be convert to a Cartesian grid:
- BOUSS2D map coverage
- CGrid Generator coverage
- GIS data
- 2D scatter
GIS Data
GIS data can be convert to the following:
- GIS to 2D grid
- GIS to 2D mesh
- GIS to 2D scatter
- Raster to 2D scatter
- GIS to feature contours
- Shapefile to feature object
- GIS to feature objects
- GIS polygons to TIN
Data types cannot be converted to GIS objects in SMS. However, data can be exported as images or shapefiles to later be imported into the GIS module.
Map
Map data can be converted to the following data types:
- SRH-2D all coverages can convert to 2D scatter
- Stamping coverage to 2D scatter
- STWAVE coverage to:
- Cartesian grid
- 2D scatter
- TABS (RMA2 and RMA4) coverage to:
- 2D mesh
- 2D scatter
- UGrid
- TUFLOW Network coverage to 2D scatter
- TUFLOW Grid Extants coverage to:
- Cartesian grid
- 2D scatter
- WAM coverage to:
- Cartesian grid
- 2D scatter
Converting other data types to the Map module involves creating feature objects on a map coverage. In most cases, the feature objects are created on an existing coverage or a new coverage is generated during the process. Data types that can be convert to feature objects include:
- GIS to feature objects
- Scatter boundaries to map
- Scatter breaklines to map
- Scatter contours to map
Mesh
Mesh data can be converted to the following data types:
- Mesh to 2D scatterpoint
- Mesh to map
- Mesh to UGrid
The following data types can be converted to a 2D mesh:
- Cartesian grid
- 2D scatter set
- Mesh Generator coverage
- GIS data
Scatter
Scatter data can be converted to the following data types:
- Scatter boundaries to map
- Scatter breaklines to map
- Scatter contours to map
- Scatter to 2D mesh
- Scatter to UGrid
