To use the SWI (Seawater Intrusion) package in an existing MODFLOW project, use the following processes:

1. Begin with an existing MODFLOW project.
The existing model can be created using the conceptual model or grid based approach.
2. Enable the SWI package.
  1. Select MODFLOW | Global Options.
  2. In the MODFLOW Global/Basic Package dialog, select the Packages button.
  3. In the MODFLOW Packages/Processes dialog, select the SWI2 – Seawater Intrusion option.
3. Create 2D grid and import surface datasets.
In many SWI projects, the surfaces data is contained on a text file.
  1. Right-click on the 3D grid 3D Grid Icon.svg item in the Project Explorer and select Convert To | 2D Grid.
  2. Right-click on the 2D grid 2D Grid Icon.svg item in the Project Explorer and select Import Dataset.
  3. Select the zeta dataset and use the Text Import Wizard.
4. Define additional SWI package options.
  1. Select the MODFLOW | Optional Packages | SWI2 – Seawater Instrusion… menu command.
  2. Define parameters in the SWI2 Package dialog.
    • Includes defining the Surfaces (Zeta), Effective Porosity, and Source Types arrays.
5. Run MODFLOW.
  1. Save Save Macro.svg the project.
  2. Run MODFLOW Run MODFLOW Macro.svg.
