This article describes tools from the SMS toolbox designed to import and export the grid points and elements for a horizontal grid file for a SCHISM model.

Export Horizontal Grid
The Export Horizontal Grid tool exports the grid points and elements for a horizontal grid file for a SCHISM model.
Input parameters
- Input grid – Select the grid in the project that will be exported.
Output parameters
- Output file – This field will list the file directory for the exported grid file.
- Save As... – This button will open a Save File dialog where the directory and file name can be set for the grid export.

Import Horizontal Grid as UGrid
The Import Horizontal Grid as UGrid tool imports the grid points and elements from a SCHISM model and exports it as a mesh file.
Input parameters
- Input file – Select the horizontal grid file to be imported.
- Select File... – This button will open a Select File where the horizontal grid file can be selected.
Output parameters
- New mesh – This field will list the file directory for the exported grid file.
- Save As... – This button will open a Save File dialog where the directory and file name can be set for the grid export.
