Template:SEAWAT Conceptual Model Workflow

Expand1. Start with a completed MODFLOW project.
Open a completed MODFLOW project created using either the grid approach or conceptual model approach.

Expand2. Initialize MT3DMS.

Expand1. Create a MT3DMS simulation. Select the MT3DMS | New Simulation menu command. Set up the basic transport package. Select the MT3DMS | Basic Transport Package menu command if the dialog does not appear when creating the simulation. Expand2. Define output control options. In the Basic Transport Package dialog, select the Output Control button. Enter output options in the Output Control dialog. Expand3. Select packages. In the Basic Transport Package dialog, select the Packages button. Select packages in the MTD3DMS/RT3D Packages dialog. For a SEAWAT project, select the Advention package and Source/sink mixing package options. Expand4. Define salt species. In the Basic Transport Package dialog, select the Define Species button. Enter salt species in the Define Species dialog. Define species starting concentration and other attributes in the spreadsheet in the Basic Transport Package dialog.

Expand3. Create a new SEAWAT simulation.
If necesasry, turn on the SEAWAT model interface using the Model Interfaces dialog reached through the Edit | Model Interfaces menu command. Select the SEAWAT | New Simulation menu command. Enter model options in the Global Options dialog.

Expand4. Modify the variable-density flow and viscocity packages.
Select the SEAWAT | VDF Package... menu command. Enter value in the SEAWAT VDF Package dialog. Select the SEAWAT | VSC Package... menu command. Enter value in the SEAWAT VSC Package dialog.

Expand5. Edit the conceptual model.

Expand1. Set up conceptual model properties for SEAWAT. In the Project Explorer, right-click on the conceptual model and select the Properties command. In the Conceptual Model Properties dialog, turn on the Transport option and click the Define Species button. Enter species in the Define Species dialog. Expand2. Assign salt concentration at the coastline. Using the Select Arc tool, double-click on the coastline arc on the sources coverage. Enter salt concentration in the Attribute Table dialog.

Expand6. Map the conceptual model.
Select the conceptual model . Select Feature Objects | Map → MT3DMS. Select the appropriate options in the Map → Model dialog. Select the conceptual model . Select Feature Objects | Map → MODFLOW . Select the appropriate options in the Map → Model dialog.

Expand7. Save and run SEAWAT.
Save the project. Run MODFLOW .

Expand8. Visualize the solution.

Expand1. Change display options. Expand1. Set display options. Open the Display Options dialog. Set the general display options. Set general lighting options. Set display options for each module that is being used. Set contour options. Set vector options. Expand2. View display. Use the Rotate , Pan , and Zoom tools. Use the View menu commands found in the Display menu. Use the Frame command to center and resize the display as needed. Expand3. Adjust display. Select a dataset in Project Explorer. Select cells in the project. Select Display | Plot Wizard to start the Plot Wizard. Select the "Active Dataset Time Series" option on the left and click Next. Specify plot options in step 2 of the Plot Wizard then click Finish. Review plot window. Expand9. S/S Flow vs. Time plot. Select Display | Plot Wizard to start the Plot Wizard. Select the "S/S Flow vs. Time" option on the left and click Next. Specify plot options in step 2 of the Plot Wizard then click Finish. Review plot window. Expand10. Flow Budget vs. Time plot. Select Display | Plot Wizard to start the Plot Wizard. Select the "Flow Budget vs. Time" option on the left and click Next. Specify plot options in step 2 of the Plot Wizard then click Finish. Use the Animation Wizard to specify the animation parameters. Save and view the animation file. Expand5. Review the zone and flow budgets. Select MODFLOW | Flow Budget.... Review the flow data on the Cells and Zones tabs in the Flow Budget dialog. Generate water budget data on the USGS ZONEBUDGET tab.
