SMS:SRH-2D Culvert Workflow

To build an SRH-2D model using a culvert, use the following steps:

1. SRH-2D project setup.

1. Create a new SRH-2D simulation. After creating the components of a simulation, create a new SRH-2D simulation. Right-click in the Project Explorer and select the New Simulations | SRH-2D command. 2. Add SRH-2D simulation components. To link components to the simulation, do one of the following. Right-click on the component and select the simulation name from the Apply To submenu. In the Project Explorer, click and drag items under the simulation object. 3. Set SRH-2D model parameters. Right-click on the simulation and select the Model Control command. Set the model parameters in the SRH-2D Model Control dialog. 4. Run the SRH-2D simulation. Right-click on the SRH-2D simulation and select Save Project, Simulation and Run to run the simulation. Use the Simulation Run Queue to track the model run. Start with an SRH-2D project that ready to have a structure added. Load an SRH-2D project. Start and build componets for an SRH-2D simulation. Before creating a structure, the SRH-2D project should have already have the following: Data for project has been imported. Elevation data has been reviewed and edited including that all projections are correct. Model limits defined using the Mesh Generator coverage and a mesh has been generated from it. 2. Create culvert boundary conditions.
Create boundary condition arcs for the culvert. Specify the HY-8 culvert definition file. Assign the boundary condition attributes and define the culvert in HY-8. Modify the materials coverage.

3. Specify the initial conditions of the stream.

4. SRH-2D simulation setup.
Create new simulation. Add components to simulation. Set up Model Control parameters. Check the model. Simulation execution. Troubleshooting.

5. Review results.
Open _XMDF file. Results layers. Observation lines. Summary table. Run the Plot Wizard. Data calculator.
