AHGW:Create Lithological Description Wizard

The Create Lithological Description Wizard dialog is accessed by clicking Create Lithological Description Wizard on the Arc Hydro Groundwater Toolbar. This tool helps create a lithological description plot for the selected well in ArcGIS.
The dialog contains the following pages:
- Step 1: Lithological Description Plot Setup
- Step 2: Scale
- Step 3: Output Feature Classes
Lithological Description Plot Setup
The following sections, options, and fields are available:
- Selected Well Properties section – Lefthand items not user editable. Lists attributes of the selected well.
- Well reference elevation field – Select the well reference elevation field from the drop-down.
- Lithological Description Options section
- Lithologic Table – Select the lithologic table from the drop-down.
- FromDepth field – Select the FromDepth field from the drop-down.
- ToDepth field – Select the ToDepth field from the drop-down.
- Filtering field – Select the field to use as a filter from the drop-down.
- Filtering value – Select the desired filtering value from the drop-down.
- XS2D_Catalog prefix – Enter an alphanumeric prefix to use in the XS2D catalog.
- Display fields of interest – Turn on any desired fields to display. At least one field must be turned on.
- Text Area size option – Select the desired size option from the drop-down. If "Vary by attribute value" is selected, the following option becomes available:
- Vary Field – Select from the drop-down the field to use for the text area size option.
- Plot Setup section
- Vertical exaggeration – Enter a decimal value to use for vertical exaggeration.
- XS2D Catalog Table – Select from the drop-down the name of the XS2D catalog table.
- Default output workspace – Click to bring up the Select Output Workspace dialog where the desired output workspace can be selected and saved.
- Data Frame section
- Output Data Frame for Lithological Description – Select from the drop-down the data frame to use. The default is "<Create new data frame>".
- Next – Switches to the second page of the Create Lithological Description Wizard dialog.
- Cancel – Cancels any changes and exits the Create Lithological Description Wizard dialog.
Scale
The following sections, options, and fields are available:
- Plot Properties section
- Plot width – Enter the plot width in decimal map units.
- Plot offset – Enter the plot offset in decimal map units.
- Background vertical buffer – Enter the background vertical buffer in decimal map units.
- Plot position – Select the radio button for the desired plot position: Left, Center, or Right.
- Grid Lines section
- Major Interval – Integer value. Enter the number of major intervals.
- Minor Interval – Integer value. Enter the number of minor intervals between major intervals.
- Legend section – Explanation of the content of the Sample Plot and Scale section.
- Sample Plot and Scale section – Displays a sample plot and scale to be used with the information in the Legend section.
- Input Options section
- Use Depth Range – Turn on to enter a specific range to use.
- Min – Available if Use Depth Range is turned on. Enter a decimal minimum value for the range.
- Max – Available if Use Depth Range is turned on. Enter a decimal maximum value for the range.
- Read – Select from the drop-down which data rows to use (options range from "Every row of data" through "Every 20th row of data").
- Back – Switches back to the first page of the Create Lithological Description Wizard dialog.
- Next – Switches to the third page of the Create Lithological Description Wizard dialog.
- Cancel – Cancels any changes and exits the Create Lithological Description Wizard dialog.
Output Feature Classes
The following sections, options, and fields are available:
- Output Lithological Description Feature Classes section
- Output grid feature class – An optional path. Click to bring up the Save Lithological Description Grid Features As dialog where a new feature class can be entered and saved.
- Output unit feature class – An optional path. Click to bring up the Save Lithological Description Unit Features As dialog where a new feature class can be entered and saved.
- Output text area feature class – An optional path. Click to bring up the Save Lithological Description Text Area Features As dialog where a new feature class can be entered and saved.
- Output depth feature class – An optional path. Click to bring up the Save Lithological Description Depth Features As dialog where a new feature class can be entered and saved.
- Miscellaneous Options section
- Append new feature or overwrite – Select the radio button indicating whether new features should be appended to the existing features (Append) or whether the existing features should be overwritten (Overwrite existing feature with same data type).
- Back – Switches back to the second page of the Create Lithological Description Wizard dialog.
- Finish – Saves the values and closes the Create Lithological Description Wizard dialog.
- Cancel – Cancels any changes and exits the Create Lithological Description Wizard dialog.
