GIS data, such as shapefiles, can be converted to other data types including: feature objects, 2D scatter points, 3D scatter points, and unstructured grids.
This is done from the main GIS menu, or by right-clicking on a shapefile in the Project Explorer and selecting the Convert To submenu. Commands in this menu include:
- Feature objects
- Opens the GIS to Feature Objects Wizard. Converts the GIS data to the current active map coverage. See GIS to Feature Objects for more information.
- 2D scatter points
- Converts GIS point data to a 2D scatter point data. If necessary, the GIS data will be broken into multiple scatter sets based on the GIS attributes.
- 3D scatter points
- Converts GIS point data to a 3D scatter point data. If necessary, the GIS data will be broken into multiple scatter sets based on the GIS attributes.
- Ugrid
- Converts GIS polygon data to an unstructured grid.
