To use raster data in to WMS, use the following steps:

1. Import DEM.
1. Import DEM files.
DEMS imported into the Terrain Data module in WMS.
  1. Use the Open command to import raster data files such as DEMs, KMZ files, and gridded elevation formats.
  2. Files can also be imported with the "drag and drop" option.
2. Download DEM files.
  1. Use the File | Add Data | Get Online Maps command.
  2. Select a location in the Virtual Map Locator.
  3. Set a projection for the project using the Display Projections dialog.
  4. Use the Data Service Options dialog to select a raster web service or catalog .
  5. Save the data file and import the raster data into SMS.
  6. Right-click on the raster file in the Project Explorer and select Convert To | DEM.
2. Merge DEMs.
  1. Use the Open command and select multiple DEM files to import.
  2. Use the Importing USGS DEMs dialog to merge the DEMs.
3.Trim DEMs.
4.Smooth DEMs.
