The '''GSSHA Model Linkage''' dialog, accessible from the '''GSSHA Job Control''' dialog, allows you to link your current GSSHA model to other GSSHA models.  If you have a parent (regional) model in the WMS interface and you want to link this parent model to a child (inset) model, select the options shown below:

Note that if these options are selected, WMS writes the appropriate cards to both the parent model and the child model, using the child model’s mask file as the output mask, so the boundary data is output from the parent model and is read into the child model.
The following buttons are found at the bottom of the dialog:
*'''Help''' – Opens this article in a web browser.
*'''OK''' – Saves all changes and closes the ''GSSHA Model Linkage'' dialog.
*'''Cancel''' – Discards all changes and closes the ''GSSHA Model Linkage'' dialog.

If you’d like to output data from the parent model at specific XY points, you would define the point locations in the GSSHA coverage in the map module and mark these locations as '''Model linkage output''' points in the GSSHA point properties dialog, as shown below:
:[[Image:GsshaInsetModelModelLinkageOutput.png|thumb|none|left|500 px|Option in the GSSHA point attributes to output model linkage data at a point]]
Then, select the option in the '''GSSHA Model Linkage''' dialog to ''output XY point-specific data from the parent model'', as shown below:
:[[Image:GsshaInsetModelLinkToChildXY.png|thumb|none|left|500 px|GSSHA Inset model dialog showing the option to link a child model to XY point-specific data]]
In either case (whether using the mask option or the XY point option), you need to define the name of your child project or you will get an error when saving your project.  If you’re using the XY point option, you’ll get an error when saving if you have not defined any model linkage output points in the GSSHA coverage.
If you have a child model read into WMS and you want to define how it’s linked to a parent model, you can toggle the option to link the model to a parent project and define the appropriate options.  Once again, you must define a filename for the parent model.
A single model can also be used as both a parent and a child model but turning on both the ''link to child'' and the ''link to parent'' toggles in this dialog.

GSSHA Model Linkage dialog

The GSSHA Model Linkage dialog is accessible by clicking the Model Linkage... button at the bottom of the GSSHA Job Control dialog. It allows linking the current GSSHA model to other GSSHA models: a child project, a parent project, or both.

The following options are available:

  • Link to another model – Turn this on to enable linking to child and/or parent projects.
    • Model linkage section
      • Link this model to the following child project – Turn on to enable linking to a child project.
        • Open Macro.svg – Click to open an Open dialog to allow browsing to select the desired child project. The path to the selected file is displayed to the right of the button. The child project must be defined or an error will occur when trying to save the project.
        • Output computed watershed mask data from parent model – Select to output the computed watershed mask data from the parent model.
          • Read computed watershed mask data into child model – Turn on to have WMS update the child model with computed watershed mask data from the current project.
        • Output XY point-specific data from parent model – Select to output the XY point-specific data from the parent model. An error will occur when saving if there are no defined model linkage output points in the GSSHA coverage. To use this option, check the box in the Model linkage output column in the GSSHA feature nodes/points Properties dialog for each desired node/point.
          • Read XY point-specific data into child model – Turn on to have WMS update the child model with XY point-specific data from the current project.
      • Link this model to the following parent project – Turn on to enable linking to a parent project.
        • Open Macro.svg – Click to open an Open dialog to allow browsing to select the desired parent project. The path to the selected file is displayed to the right of the button. The parent project must be defined or an error will occur when trying to save the project.

The following buttons are found at the bottom of the dialog:

  • Help – Opens this article in a web browser.
  • OK – Saves all changes and closes the GSSHA Model Linkage dialog.
  • Cancel – Discards all changes and closes the GSSHA Model Linkage dialog.
